Welcome to Sue Monteath's Website

Sue Monteath is an Artist living in Surbiton, Surrey. She is a Fellow of Molesey Art Society and through the Society's events, together with her own solo exhibitions, Sue has sold many of her vibrant paintings. Sue won the Molesey Art Society Robert A Lindsay award for the most accomplished oil painting in 2010, 2015 and 2019. More recently, Sue won the Society's 2022 Arthur Henderson-Hall Perceptive Award and the 2022 Augustus Lunn Award for Design & Composition.

In 2019 Sue had her work accepted to the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) 56th Annual Exhibition, 'The Natural Eye 2019' at the Mall Galleries.

Having enjoyed Art during her school years, Sue's real passion for painting emerged years later when she started evening classes in life drawing and portrait art.

Sue has a keen interest in birding and likes to combine this hobby with sketching and painting in the field. In 2016 Sue joined a seabird drawing week in Scotland with the Society of Wildlife Artists, which included the unique chance to land on Bass Rock to sketch the world's largest gannet colony. In 2019 Sue also spent a week on Orkney sketching seabirds.

Sue likes to work in different media, but oils are a firm favourite with bold use of colour.

We hope you enjoy the pictures on display. These represent a sample of Sue's work.
